REGS in Combinatorics - Univ. of Illinois
"REGS" means "Research Experiences for Graduate Students". The Combinatorics
REGS program began in 2004 as a lively collaborative research group where many
problems were proposed and students worked in groups on the problems that
interest them. Presented by faculty, visitors, and students, the problems came
from conferences, web pages, journal articles, etc. The program provided an
early exposure to research and exposition, thereby increasing mathematical
maturity and easing the transition from coursework to research. The usual
schedule was MWF 10:30-12 and 2-5 (more intensively during the first week).
Many joint papers emerged; some projects led to thesis research.
The last year of REGS in this form was 2013.
A successor program with similar aims but a different organization
is the GRWC (Graduate Research Workshop in Combinatorics).
Some former participants in REGS have requested that I keep
the pages for problems presented in REGS accessible on the web.
Hence I have reestablished this entry point for the old pages.
No claim is made about whether the problems are still open.
For basic terminology not given on problem pages, see the
Glossary.

The 2013 RESULTS PAGE lists
results obtained in REGS toward or related to the problems proposed. This
year only results sent in by the students are being posted.

The Louisville group prepared pdf writeups of 16
problems in a single file. A few of these problems also appear above.
